“Modeling Diseases with the German Epidemic Microsimulation System”

[pdf]

Organized by the OptimAgent network

Time: Tuesday, 25.02.2025, 10 am – 4 pm

Venue: Continuing education center“Veterinarium Progressum” Oertzenweg 19b, 14163 Berlin (Düppel). The workshop will take place on site (with limited capacity, MONID members will be given priority).

Registration: Registration was possible during the registration process for the 3rd MONID conference and is now closed.

Overview:
GEMS is the main result of the OptimAgent project and is now in its final year of development. It is a powerful, yet lightweight and easy-to-use agent-based simulation framework for modeling respiratory infectious diseases based on a comprehensive model of the German population. It enables the modelling of complex intervention strategies (vaccination, isolation, testing, contact tracing, school closures and many others) with only a few lines of code and provides extensive features for analysis and visualization of the results. The workshop will use smaller regional and synthetic population models (so you can use a laptop!).

Workshop contents:

  • Carrying out simulation experiments with GEMS
  • Visual representation of simulation results
  • Importing and exporting data
  • Modeling of NPI scenarios and comparison of the results of intervention strategies
  • Help if you want to try out your own ideas!

Prerequisites:
Please bring a laptop with Visual Studio Code (https://code.visualstudio.com/) and The Julia Programming Language (version 1.10.4 and higher) (https://julialang.org/).
