What: Spring School on the Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases.
When? From March 2 to 6, 2026 (all-day, face-to-face event).
Where? Institute of Epidemiology and Social Medicine, University of Münster, Münster, Germany.
Every year, the Institute of Epidemiology and Social Medicine at the University of Münster organizes a free spring school for the epidemiology of infectious diseases. The next one will take place from March 2 to 6, 2026.
The one-week course is recognized as an elective for medical students of the University of Münster, but is also open to external participants, resulting in a great diversity in terms of academic/professional backgrounds of the students. The course is taught by lecturers from the University of Münster as well as guest lecturers from outside the university (in March 2023, for example, lecturers from Swiss TPH, BNI, Institut Pasteur and GIZ/RKI taught).
The combination of lectures and practical exercises offers participants a good introduction to the epidemiology of infectious diseases and essentially covers the following topics:
– Infectious diseases and their transmission
– Disease surveillance
– Outbreak investigations
– Infection prevention and control
– Introduction to mathematical modeling of disease spread.
